About me

image.png

Hello! My name is Pauline Deetlefs, and I am an Educational Psychologist based in Stellenbosch.

My journey began in education, where I completed my Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching (cum laude) at Stellenbosch University. I went on to work as a Foundation Phase teacher for two and a half years — an experience that deepened my passion for supporting learners who face barriers to learning.

Driven by a desire to make a greater impact, I completed both my Honours (cum laude) and Master’s degree in Educational Psychology at Stellenbosch University. During my studies, I was proud to be inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society in recognition of academic excellence.

I have a special interest in working with children who experience learning and developmental challenges, and I believe that every child has the potential to grow, succeed, and thrive — sometimes they just need the right support. My goal is to walk alongside learners, parents, and educators to help each child discover their strengths, overcome obstacles, and unlock their full potential.

Thank you for visiting my page — I look forward to working with you.

A Little Bit More About Me

I See You — Because I’ve Been There Too

As a child, I struggled with my own challenges at school. I know how scary it can feel to walk into a psychologist’s office — especially when you’re already feeling unsure or overwhelmed. As someone who lives with anxiety and ADHD, and has experienced depression, I deeply understand what it’s like to feel “different” — or like you're falling behind while trying your best.

These personal experiences have shaped my deep compassion, patience, and belief in every learner’s potential. They remind me daily that growth is possible, that support matters, and that no child is ever alone in their journey.

My goal is to be the kind of person I needed when I was younger — someone safe, kind, and fully in your corner

A House Full of Fur and Love

I work from my home-based practice in Stellenbosch, because I believe that healing and growth happen best in spaces that feel safe, calm, and personal — not clinical. I share this space with two rescue cats (despite being allergic!) and a gentle dog who often reminds me how important kindness, patience, and connection truly are. My goal is to offer a homely environment where children feel comfortable enough to just be themselves.

My Favourite Quote

"Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, they make this world a beautiful garden."
To me, each child is like a unique tree in that garden — growing in their own way, at their own pace. Some climb, some swing, and some need a little shade to flourish. My role is to create that space — like a strong tree with a swing — where children feel grounded, playful, and supported.
